Very sad to hear of the passing of Ricci this last weekend while on holiday down at the Wyndham Hill Farm at Jamberoo. Particularly tough when he and Sophie had really been getting together in a solid successful partnership, with the little guy always being very particular about needing a very good ride.

I imported Ricci about 6 years ago from my friends in France Edouard Couperie and Eric Negre, who had owned him on and off since he was a 5 year old. These guys also found Copabella Visage, Courchevel and Infatuation for me. He was a super quality little horse who had excellent technique and always super careful, and among many other Grand Prixs won a World Cup Qualifier at Melbourne Royal, the EFA Cup in Section 1 at Sydney Royal and the Australian Championship in 2006. Warwick Miller purchased him for daughter Sophie earlier this year, and she was finding that she was learning so much from him, principally, the better you rode him, the better he jumped. It was also great that she was mastering the feel of better flatwork movements with her learning about the inticacies of counter canter and his fancy flying changes among his other party tricks.

It was very fitting that Sophie and he convincingly won their last start together at the Issa Tempo Show at SIEC. Rest in peace little mate, you have given us all a great deal of joy.
